Heart Palpitations - Essential Oil Blends Recipes

Proper blends and applications of essential oils can increase their effectiveness on our minds and body.  The following are some suggested essential oils recipes to calm overactive nerves and relieve night-time heart palpitations.

Essential Oil Blends

Blend #1

Bergamot      5 drops

Lavender                     4 drops

Palmarosa                   3 drops

Blend #2

Bergamot                    4 drops

Clary Sage                 3 drops

Roman Chamomile     3 drops

Jasmine Absolute        2 drops

Applications/Instructions

*Nebulizing diffuser/personal inhaler

Nasal inhaling is the most effective way to absorb essential oils to reduce anxiety and calm the overactive nerves as it quickly influences the central nervous system, compared to dermal absorption.

Drop the essential oil blends above in the diffuser or inhaler and use it before bedtime.  Using the diffuser for longer than 15-20 minutes is unnecessary.

*Massage oil

Massage also helps relax the body and the mind for bedtime.

Massage can stimulate circulation and should be avoided right before bedtime.

Mix the essential oil blends with carrier oils and gently massage the neck, chest, shoulder, abdomen, legs, and feet.

The 30ml (1oz.) of carrier oil (2% dilutions) is recommended for the massage.

Precautions

  • Bergamot should be avoided for baths and massages as they are skin irritants.

  • Clary Sage is not for pregnancy or nursing.

  • Cold-pressed Bergamot is phototoxic. The Rectified FCF/Bergaptine-Free versions of cold-pressed Bergamot Oil are available that dramatically reduce the phototoxicity of the oil.

It is very important to understand the precautions of each essential oil.  For concern for skin irritation and allergic reaction, it is typically recommended to try a patch test before beginning to use any essential oils.  What proves effective for one person may not necessarily work as well for others.  If the choice of one blend does not prove as effective as expected, trying a different recipe or replacing one essential oil with another essential oil is suggested.
